MOBA 1981 Book launched | Education
As part of activities to herald the 147 anniversary of Mfantsipim School, the 1981 year has launched a book titled “Memoirs of the Centenary Greenhorns” in Accra.
It among other things gives an insight into the School’s history and some key elements that make it stand tall among its peers.
The Mfantsipim School, a Methodist and all-male institution has over the 1 period trained thousands of personalities who have contributed to their quota to national development.
The idea by the 1981 year group of Mfantsipim Old Boys Association, MOBA, was borne out of the need to provide some insight into how the school has stood the test of time to provide quality human resources to the development needs of Ghana.
Speaking to Pracefmonline one of the editors who is also an old boy, Mr. Moses Ayiku -Jnr said the publication is part of their support to raise funds for the school.
It is also intended to tell their story to encourage especially the younger generations to aspire to higher heights.
The chapters in the Memoir include; centenary celebrations, academics, sports and the future of Mfantsipim.
A retired educationist and member of MOBA 1966 Mr Anis Haffar who reviewed the book said it provides useful lessons to prospective students and current ones on their aspirations and expectations.
The Publisher of the Memoir of the Centenary Greenhorns, Mrs Nana Kegya Appiah-Adu of ACE publisher said the book is an eye-opener to life on Mfantsipim campus.
She urged the public to patronize it because the book can serve many purposes
The President of MOBA 1981, Mr Ray Snowden told Peacefmonline that the Memoir is one of the means of telling the Mfantsipim story, as well as highlighting the journey so far and aspirations.
He added it is also a platform to help rescue the dwindling academic prowess and reputation of the school.
The Chairman of the occasion Ebusuapayin Capt RTD) Paul Forjor of the 73 groups Was grateful to the 1981 group for the excellent work done to lift the image of the school.
The first copy of the book was auctioned for 200 thousand cedis and was bought by Mr Ibrahim Mahamah CEO of Engineers and Planners Mr M.R Fiifi Brandful of 74 year group led the fundraising event.
